Add RDA-Compliant Tags (MARC Editor)
You can add an RDA (Resource Description and Access) tag in the MARC editor.
Note: RDA tags only appear when RDA (Resource Description and Access) is the preferred descriptive cataloging form. Changing the preferred descriptive cataloging form to RDA happens at the district level. |
To add an RDA tag:
- Select Catalog > Library Search.
- Find the title you want, and then click Details. The Title Details page appears.
- Select Edit Title > Use MARC Editor. The MARC editor appears.
- Select the appropriate Material Type and, if applicable, the Subtype. If the default Material Type is not Book, Destiny refreshes the content in the 336, 337, and 338 fields, in addition to that in the Leader and 008 fields.
- Review the 336, 337, and 338 fields. These fields are repeatable. You can add as many as needed to describe the item. To facilitate the RDA cataloging, the Indicator values, subfields, and subfield contents drop-down contain only acceptable values, and the subfield information for subfield _2 contains the proper RDA entry. You can edit any of these fields or add additional ones:
- To edit an existing field, click in the field. The Edit tag <number> page appears. To add a new field, select one from the Add Tag drop-down.
- To change the contents of an existing subfield _a, select it from the Content type term drop-down. To add another subfield, select the subfield and contents from the lists at the bottom, and then click Add.
- To rearrange the subfields, click or . To delete one, click the red X.
Note: You cannot delete the last 336 or 338.
- Click OK.
- Type in the Publication Info in one or more 264 fields. Do not use a 260 field.
- Complete the other fields as needed.
- Click Save Title.
