Set Up Your District and Schools
Destiny Administrators can use the Update District Sites page to configure the district and add, import, group, edit, and delete schools or sites.
- Log in as a Destiny Administrator.
- Select Setup > Sites sub-tab.
- Next to the district name, click . The Edit District page appears.
- Verify your District Name, MARC Organization Code, and District Customer Number.
Note: These are the only required fields on the page. - Enter a District State Identification, if your state provides one.
- Under District Customer Number, select any options.
- If your district has a current subscription to access and import title records, select Use Alliance Plus™ Online.
Note: Alliance Plus Online lets you seamlessly access millions of high-quality MARC records.
- If you want your patrons to search free and openly-licensed educational materials, select Use Open Educational Resources (OER).
- If your district will share information between Destiny and your other applications, contact Follett before selecting Use School's Interoperability Framework (SIF).
Note: SIF does not support multiple school associations for patrons.
- To let external Z39.50 clients search your district's catalog, select Allow Z39.50 clients to search my database.
- To let Destiny Discover users export citations to EasyBib, select the applicable checkbox.
- To include circulation usage for Follett Digital titles in a range of reports, select the Synchronize Follett Digital circulation statistics checkbox.
- To include award winners in title details in Library Manager, select the Award Winners checkbox and then click Update.
- To change the interval of days between updates, click in the Days between Lexile updates field and enter a number.
- To change the interval of days between updates, click in the Days between Fountas and Pinnell updates field and enter a number.
Note: Other enriched content services – Reading Program Service for Accelerated Reader or Reading Counts!, One Search, Standards, TitlePeek, and WebPath Express – are listed for each individual site on its Edit Site page.
- If your district has a current subscription to access and import title records, select Use Alliance Plus™ Online.
- Select Job Manager Maintenance options:
To change how long to keep a report, click in the Number of days to retain Reports field and enter a number.
To change how long to keep a job, click in the Number of days to retain Jobs field and enter a number.
Note: The maximum number of days to retain reports and jobs is:
- Hosted – 90 days
- Self-hosted – 120 days

If you integrate Destiny with other applications, complete the appropriate section(s) for Aspen, Baker & Taylor, MackinVia™, and/or OverDrive.
- Use Student Roster Configuration to set up Destiny for integration, and retrieve information needed for Aspen® Student Information System preferences.
Note: For users of both systems to securely access Destiny resources through Aspen, you will also need to create an OAuth Consumer.

Integrate Destiny with Baker & Taylor's Axis 360.
- Integrate with MackinVia™.
- Integrate with OverDrive.
- Use Student Roster Configuration to set up Destiny for integration, and retrieve information needed for Aspen® Student Information System preferences.
- Configure SSO (Single Sign-On).
Note: If your district uses a learning platform that is compliant with Learning Tools Interoperability® (LTI), you can set up SSO. - If your school district’s statistical year does not begin in the month displayed, change the Statistical Year Starts In.
- If your school district’s fiscal year does not begin in the month displayed, change the Fiscal Year Starts In.
- If your district is outside the United States, select your Region Format and Fine Currency.
- Select Library Management options (if you are a Library Manager customer):
- Quarantine returned copies for X calendar days

- Enable sites to opt out of auto-quarantine
- Allow copies to be checked in at any site
- Enable district-defined ILLs
- Days to ship between sites before marking lost (optional)
- Days to circulate at the requesting site
- Allow librarian to choose sites for the ILL request
- Quarantine returned copies for X calendar days
- Select Textbook Management options (if you are a Textbook Manager customer):
- To require unique barcode numbers for all textbooks in the district, select Prevent duplicate barcodes across the district.
- To transfer checked-out textbooks when the patron is transferred, select Checked out textbooks will be transferred when patron is transferred.
- To let users perform in-hand transfers of textbooks, select Allow sites to receive textbooks by barcode scan.
- To rename the textbook record's User Defined Field, enter a new name in the Customize User-Defined Textbook title field.
- Select Resource Management options (if you are a Resource Manager customer):
- Quarantine returned items for X calendar days
- Enable sites to opt out of auto-quarantine
Note: For more on quarantine, check out the quick reference guide on Follett Community. - To require unique barcode numbers for all resources in the district, select Prevent duplicate barcodes across the district.
- To let users perform in-hand transfers of resources, select Allow sites to receive resources by barcode scan.
- To allow transfer requests from the district, select Allow sites to make transfer requests. See Transfer Requests.
To configure integration between Destiny Resource Manager and your Mobile Device Management (MDM) system, click Configure.
Note: For more on configuring the integration, see the Mobile Device Management Integration Help Center. For information on purchasing an integration service, contact your sales representative.
- Select Patron Management options.
- To include a unique District ID, select Require District ID for patron records.
- To automatically delete patron notes when transferring patrons, select Clear patron notes when transferring patrons.
- To enable schools to collect or waive fines or issue refunds for patrons of other schools, select Allow fines to be paid/waived at any site.
- Select whether and how long to Retain patron library checkout history.
- Under General Settings in the Customize User-Defined Alternate Site Type field, enter the Alternate Site Type name.
- If your district is willing to share abstract data with Follett School Solutions, select Circulation Data and/or Catalog Data.
- Determine whether to use Short Names and Aliases.
Note: Follett recommends using Aliases to map Site Short Names. Aliases are often the site building codes used by your Student Information System (SIS). These are used when patron data is imported into Destiny from the SIS.
- If you have a district logo that you would like to use in Destiny:
- Next to Logo for All Pages, click Edit.
- On the Update Logo Image page, click Browse (or Choose File, depending on your browser).
- Browse to and select the image file.
It appears in the upper-left corner of every district page and at sites that do not have their own logo.
- Add or update an Image for Standard Welcome Page, or create a Customized Welcome Page.
- When you are done, click Save.
